Neuromuscular Therapy

Chronic pain isn't something you just learn to live with. It's something your body is asking you to address.

Neuromuscular Therapy is targeted, corrective bodywork that gets to the root of pain, tension, and dysfunction so your body can move and feel the way it was designed to.

Neuromuscular Therapy

What is Neuromuscular Therapy?

Neuromuscular Therapy is a specialized, hands-on approach to pain relief and movement restoration. Unlike massage, which focuses on relaxation, Neuromuscular Therapy is precise and corrective. It targets the specific trigger points, joint restrictions, and tissue patterns that are creating pain and dysfunction in your body, and it works to resolve them at the source rather than masking them at the surface.

The philosophy behind this work is straightforward: if a joint isn't healthy, the tissue connected to it can't be healthy either. Neuromuscular Therapy focuses on joints as the bridge between the brain and the musculature. By addressing restriction in each segment of the body, it's possible to change the underlying pattern rather than simply managing the symptoms it creates.

Think of it like a wobbling tire. The wobble causes the tire to wear down unevenly over time. You can keep filling it with air, but until you address the underlying imbalance, the wear continues. Neuromuscular Therapy addresses the imbalance.

Who it's for

This is for you if your body has been in pain long enough that it's started to feel normal.

Chronic pain has a way of becoming background noise. You stop noticing how much you're compensating, how often you're adjusting your posture, how many things you've quietly stopped doing because of how you feel. Neuromuscular Therapy is designed to interrupt that pattern and help your body find a better one.

This therapy is especially beneficial for:

  • Chronic neck, back, and shoulder painpersistent tension that keeps coming back no matter what you try
  • Headaches and migrainesespecially those rooted in muscle tension and trigger points
  • Sciatica and nerve painrelief from compression and referred pain patterns
  • Limited range of motionrestoring mobility and functional movement
  • Sports injuriesrecovery and correction of movement patterns that contributed to the injury
  • Repetitive stress conditionsaddressing the cumulative patterns that create ongoing discomfort
  • Postural imbalancescorrecting the compensations your body has developed over time
This isn't your typical massage. It's very targeted, and it actually addressed the root of my shoulder pain.

What to expect

What your first session looks like

Your first session begins with a conversation. Patty wants to understand where you're hurting, how long it's been happening, what you've already tried, and what your body felt like before the pain became part of your routine. That context matters, because Neuromuscular Therapy isn't one-size-fits-all. Every session is built around your specific patterns and needs.

You'll remain fully clothed throughout your session, so we recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows for easy movement. This allows Patty to assess how your body moves and apply targeted techniques while keeping you comfortable.

From there, Patty uses targeted, hands-on techniques to assess and address the joints, trigger points, and tissue restrictions contributing to your pain. You may feel some discomfort when working on particularly tight or sensitive areas, but it should never feel overwhelming. Most clients describe it as a "good" discomfort, the kind that tells you something is actually being addressed. Many notice real differences in how their body feels even after the first session.

After your appointment, Patty will walk you through what she found and what she recommends going forward. Lasting results often come with a series of sessions, and she'll help you understand what a realistic plan looks like for your specific situation.

My mobility has improved so much working with Patty, and I'm no longer dealing with the constant tension I used to live with daily.

You don't have to keep managing the pain. You can actually address it.

Patty has helped clients move past chronic pain they'd been living with for years. Not by masking it, but by finding where it's coming from and working to change the pattern that's creating it. If you're ready to stop compensating and start correcting, this is where that begins.
